Black Solidarity Conference
This past year, the Black Student Alliance at Yale and Black Pride Union proudly presented the 12th annual Black Solidarity Conference (BSC), an intercollegiate conference for black students to come share ideas, discuss topics and network.
This year's conference was titled "Call to Arms: Battling Complacency, Igniting the Revolution." The conference explored various aspects of blacks leading the charge for social reform through stimulating workshops and speakers, including keynote speaker Jeff “Cousin Jeff” Johnson. Our main concentrations this year were the effects of incarceration on the black community and public health in the black community.
This conference sparked a new revolutionary spirit in young black leaders from around the country, as each individual college group developed action plans at BSC to utilize when they returned to their respective campuses. The Conference also provided an outlet for people of color to network with students from the Ivy League, Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Military Academies, and numerous other prestigious schools.
